Monster

What do you do when you realise you're turning into a monster?
Things you've never done before,
Words you've never said before,
Sins you've never committed before;
You start doing them all.
You constantly get drawn into situations that compel you to offend,
You break hearts that you cannot mend,
And the apologies you cannot send;
You don't have second thoughts.
Most times, you feel no remorse,
For thoughts so coarse,
You try to push them away with so much force;
Yet, you fail and miserably so.
There's more bad than there's good,
More of what you shouldn't, than what you should
In what you wouldn't usually do, but now would;
Even so, your conscience is wide awake.
But what do i do with that conscience,
When all I think, speak or do turns to be nonsense?
And I am left with lies and only lies in my defence.
I no longer recognise the person in the mirror.
These things will remain with me like a shadow forever
That I don't often ponder,
But I am afraid, these vices will make me grow fonder;
And then someday I will have turned into a monster.
