A Mere Shadow

I stand today, with a bewildering feeling in my heart. For years, my internal battle took a hold on me. As if that was not enough, it decided to take an external form. My identity parted ways, it was ripped off me. I sit in the dark corner of my room, contemplating my own thoughts. I don't need anyone to question me. They can never question my contorting self, more than I do. People talk proudly in their luxury, their privileged chambers- they sit there but have no significant words to speak.
My brothers and sisters have been out in the streets, raging. Our voices echo, waking the earth from its slumber. And it is still not thunderous enough to break through the padded walls of those who push us down.
I fought with myself everyday. I stood in front of the mirror, and all I felt was disgust. Everyday, I woke up and felt trapped. It takes one literally years to finally understand and accept themselves. And it takes mere seconds for others to deem their identity non-existent. It passed us, faster than the wind that could've flown it. In the blink of an eye, and you tell me I'm not who I am anymore? That someone has to shove their hands down me, only to take away my freedom and my autonomy? Only to give me two thumbs down and throw me in a dungeon of a body that is not mine?

So I write this, with bewildering thoughts and feelings. I feel everything all at once. I feel rage, I feel sorrow, I feel terror, uneasiness and repulsion. I feel all but pride as I witness with my eyes, the macabre of a situation that fills me with a deep empty void. Something came for me, and it can surely come for you.
Yours truly
Forever in the dark
A Mere Shadow.
